Beaches
You wonâ??t find a shortage of beaches in Cienfuegos. Each one has impressive coral reefs just off the coastline as well as numerous opportunities to participate in watersports and see some of the marine life.
Natural Beauty
El Nicho Waterfall- Located between Trinidad and Cienfuegos, this waterfall is part of the Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve Park.
Cueva Martin Infierno- At 67 metres high, this is the tallest stalagmite in the world. In order to see it you will need to visit Valle de Yaguanabo thatâ??s about 35 miles from Cienfuegos. The stalagmite is located inside of a cave and there are plenty of opportunities to explore here.
Jardin Botanico de Cienfuegos- This botanical garden is huge at a size of 94-hectares. Plant lovers can easily spend an entire day here exploring the 2,000 different plant species. The land was originally intended to be used for sugarcane back in 1901, but tropical trees from all over the world were planted here instead.
National Monuments
In total there are 11 different sites that have earned the declaration of national monuments. These include:
Castillo de Jagua- This fortress was erected in the 18th century and now consists of a museum and drawbridge. Itâ??s also famous for its resident ghost â??Lady In Blueâ?.
Palacio de Valle- Alcisclo Valle Blanco built this castle in 1917. It features interesting architecture and decor.
Catedral de la PurÃsima Concepción- Built in 1869, this cathedral has a neoclassical style. It is known for its twin towers and stained glass windows.
Activities For The Kids
Horse-drawn Carriage Ride- A popular excursion for tourists is going on a horse-drawn carriage. It will easily provide you with a way to see the town and relax your feet at the same time.
Delfinario- Located at Rancho Luna, this park features a variety of marine life. Itâ??s mostly known for its trained dolphins and dolphin show. Visitors also have the opportunity to swim with a dolphin if they wish to do so.
